Not long ago, Carma Services was just a concept that involved changing the used car game in our community. Having worked for years at the Big Box used car chain, it came to our attention that we can help local vehicle sellers more by sharing some of what we learned during our time in the industry.
This started with our selling stories as we broke down the selling process step by step and the resulting sales price over the 7-day offer received from the dealer, which is around $2000 per sale. By highlighting this “spread” between a dealer’s offer and an offers obtained from putting a car up for sale privately, we can demonstrate the value of this model of doing business. Better yet, we like to donate as much as we make to local nonprofits when our sellers give us the chance to do so!
Giving local sellers more options than the one size fits all they will get elsewhere is what we’re all about. This includes looking at each selling situation as a unique opportunity to add value, while taking great care to minimize the risks associated with selling a vehicle. Our philosophy is fairly simple: show people that better is possible and then help them achieve it when it comes time to sell a vehicle!
What is a Carma Car?
Not every car is ideal for the Carma model of used car sales. We best serve when we find cars that are more than 10 years old or have over 100,000 behind them. These cars are generally lower-cost and don’t need financing. This means these “Carma Cars” are quick to sell and pose a significantly lower risk when selling with our services as a private transaction.
Of course, the financial risks of selling a $40,000 car privately is exponentially larger than selling a $4,000 car. It is understandable that people would not trust Carma with an asset that is incredibly valuable, but more than a couple of these lower-cost Carma Cars have been able to sell for more than double the Big Box dealer’s 7-day offer!
